In the world of luxury adventure travel, safety is the ultimate luxury. At Alor Liveaboard Diving, the well-being of our guests and crew is our highest priority, forming the non-negotiable foundation of every decision we make. As a key brand within the Juara Holding Group, we operate with a level of professionalism, legal compliance, and safety protocol that sets the industry standard in Indonesia. Our clients can embark on their Alor liveaboard diving adventure with complete peace of mind, knowing they are protected by a robust framework of national and international best practices.

Corporate & Legal Compliance

We are a fully legal and transparent entity, operating in complete compliance with the laws of the Republic of Indonesia.

  • Legal Entity: Juara Holding Group is a registered Indonesian Perseroan Terbatas (PT), ensuring full legal accountability.
  • Tourism Business License (SIUP Pariwisata): We hold a valid and current tour operator license issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif), authorizing us to conduct tourism activities nationwide.
  • Tax Compliance (NPWP): We are a registered taxpayer with a valid Nomor Pokok Wajib Pajak (Taxpayer Identification Number), contributing to the national economy.
  • Employee Welfare (BPJS): All our direct employees and the crews of our core partner vessels are registered for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and BPJS Kesehatan, Indonesia’s mandatory social security, pension, and healthcare programs.

Maritime Safety & Vessel Standards

Our partner vessels are selected not just for their luxury, but for their adherence to stringent safety codes, which we verify through our rigorous audits.

  • Indonesian Flag & Classification: All vessels in our portfolio are Indonesian-flagged and comply with all safety and construction regulations mandated by the Directorate General of Sea Transportation (Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Laut).
  • Safety Management System (SMS): Each vessel operates under a comprehensive SMS that includes regular, documented drills for emergency scenarios such as fire, man overboard, and vessel evacuation.
  • Navigation and Communication: Vessels are equipped with modern, redundant navigation systems (GPS, Radar, AIS, Depth Sounders) and multiple layers of communication technology (VHF, SSB Radio, and Satellite Phones) to ensure constant contact even in remote areas.
  • Crew Certification: We verify that all captains hold, at a minimum, an Ahli Nautika Tingkat II (ANT II) license and that all crew members possess a valid Basic Safety Training (BST) certificate.

Diving Safety Protocols

Our dive operations are managed to eliminate risk and ensure a comfortable, safe underwater experience for all skill levels.

  • PADI Standards: All diving activities are conducted in strict adherence to the safety standards and best practices of the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI).
  • Emergency Action Plan (EAP): We have a detailed EAP for every region we operate in. This includes direct communication lines to the nearest medical facilities and a clear, pre-planned medical evacuation procedure in partnership with specialist providers for transport to the nearest hyperbaric chamber (e.g., in Bali or Manado).
  • Onboard Medical Equipment: Every vessel is equipped with comprehensive first aid kits, emergency oxygen for diving and medical use, and an automated external defibrillator (AED).
  • Diver Insurance: We mandate that all guests hold comprehensive travel and diving insurance, including coverage for medical evacuation. We strongly recommend Divers Alert Network (DAN) membership.

Logistical & Transport Safety

Our commitment to safety extends from the moment you land to the moment you depart.

  • Aviation Partners: We only book domestic flights with airlines that have a proven safety record and are certified by the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), such as the national carrier, Garuda Indonesia.
  • Ground Transportation: All vehicles used for airport transfers and land excursions are modern, regularly maintained, equipped with seatbelts for all passengers, and monitored via GPS tracking. Our drivers are professionally trained and have impeccable safety records.

This multi-layered approach to safety and compliance is managed and continuously reviewed by our expert team. It is our unwavering promise to you, our valued guest.

Imagine the gentle sway of the ocean beneath you, the vibrant coral reefs of Alor beckoning, and the only thought in your mind is the next breathtaking encounter. This unparalleled sense of freedom and discovery is meticulously safeguarded by a framework of safety protocols and operational excellence designed to provide absolute peace of mind throughout your luxury Alor liveaboard diving adventure.

Our advanced dive safety protocols

Diving in the pristine waters of Alor demands an uncompromising approach to safety, and our protocols are built upon international best practices. Every member of our dive team, from the highly experienced Dive Masters to our expert Instructors, holds certifications from globally recognized agencies such as PADI or SSI. These professionals are not only certified to the highest standards but also boast extensive local knowledge, with each dive guide typically having logged over 1,000 dives in Indonesian waters, including the specific Alor region. This ensures an intimate understanding of local currents, marine life behaviors, and optimal dive sites, allowing for dynamic adjustments to dive plans based on real-time conditions.

Beyond human expertise, the integrity of our diving equipment is paramount. We utilize only top-tier brands, meticulously maintained to manufacturer specifications and subjected to daily pre-dive checks by our trained crew. Emergency oxygen kits, comprehensive first aid supplies, and an automated external defibrillator (AED) are standard on board, strategically placed and regularly inspected. Our crew participates in routine emergency drills, including simulated dive accidents and rescue scenarios, ensuring swift and coordinated responses should an unforeseen event occur. Furthermore, our vessels are equipped with satellite phones and marine VHF radios, maintaining constant communication with shore support and local emergency services.

Each dive begins with a thorough briefing, covering the dive site’s unique characteristics, expected marine encounters, potential hazards, and detailed emergency procedures. We strictly adhere to safe diving practices, including conservative dive profiles, mandatory buddy systems, and small group sizes—typically a maximum of four divers per guide—to ensure personalized attention and enhanced safety. Maximum depth limits are always respected, and surface interval recommendations are strictly followed, allowing for optimal nitrogen off-gassing and reducing the risk of decompression sickness. Your well-being is continuously monitored, both underwater and on the surface, by a vigilant and highly trained team.

Maritime excellence and vessel integrity

The foundation of your Alor liveaboard diving experience rests on the structural integrity and advanced systems of our vessels. Crafted with robust materials and designed for stability and comfort in diverse sea conditions, our primary vessel, the MV Juara, undergoes a comprehensive dry-dock inspection and maintenance overhaul every 12 months. This rigorous schedule, overseen by certified marine engineers, ensures that every component, from the engines and propulsion systems to the navigation and communication equipment, operates at peak performance and meets stringent safety benchmarks set by the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation.

Our maritime crew comprises seasoned professionals, led by a captain with decades of experience navigating the intricate archipelagic waters of Indonesia. Every officer and crew member holds the necessary national maritime certifications, and their expertise extends beyond navigation to include advanced first aid, fire fighting, and emergency response protocols. The wheelhouse is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation technology, including multiple GPS systems, high-resolution radar, depth sounders, and electronic charting systems, providing unparalleled situational awareness at all times, day or night. Continuous weather monitoring ensures that routes are adjusted for optimal comfort and safety, avoiding adverse conditions whenever possible.

In the unlikely event of an emergency, our vessels are outfitted with comprehensive safety equipment exceeding regulatory requirements. This includes multiple SOLAS-approved (Safety of Life at Sea) life rafts, capable of accommodating more than 150% of our maximum guest and crew capacity, along with an abundance of life jackets for all onboard. Advanced fire suppression systems are integrated throughout the vessel, complemented by portable fire extinguishers and regular crew training. Our robust communication suite includes long-range single sideband (SSB) radios and redundant satellite communication systems, ensuring reliable contact with shore support and international maritime rescue coordination centers. For more information on global maritime safety standards, you may refer to the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Holistic well-being and responsible tourism

Your journey with Alor Liveaboard Diving extends beyond exceptional diving to encompass a holistic approach to guest well-being and environmental stewardship. Onboard, we maintain impeccable hygiene standards throughout the vessel, from cabins to communal areas, ensuring a pristine and healthy environment. Our culinary team sources fresh, high-quality ingredients daily, preparing gourmet meals that cater to a variety of dietary preferences and restrictions, all while adhering to strict food safety protocols. A dedicated medical kit, tailored for remote travel and staffed by a crew member trained in advanced first aid, is always accessible to address any minor ailments or injuries promptly.

As stewards of Alor’s extraordinary marine ecosystems, we are deeply committed to responsible tourism. We operate strictly within designated marine protected areas, adhering to “leave no trace” principles and actively promoting sustainable practices among our guests. Our waste management system is meticulous: we sort and process all waste on board, with organic waste composted and recyclables separated for proper disposal on shore, ensuring less than 5% of onboard waste goes to landfill. Single-use plastics are minimized, and we encourage guests to use reusable water bottles provided on board. Furthermore, we actively engage with and support local communities in Alor, ensuring that our operations contribute positively to the region’s socio-economic development. This commitment aligns with Indonesia’s broader sustainable tourism initiatives, which you can explore further on Indonesia.Travel.
